No definately. The fisrt time I watched it was during my "preference for dubs" stage. The quality of the voices, how the voice actors emote (if I'm using this word correctly), weren't as important as the quality of the art (which was why I started watching Anime in the fisrt place). Bad dubs were a way of life. These days you can even (sometimes though) choose between fan subs (my favorite) or DVD subs (2nd best, but the translations aren't as good as fan subs - I also like the editor's or translator's notes).
